We are seeking adaptable, caring individuals to support teaching and learning during term time at Sabrina Love Centre for Children with Disabilities, and work as hospitality team members during school holidays.

Key Responsibilitues

Term-Time Responsibilities (Classroom Support Assistant):
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of daily activities and lessons.
  • Support individual learners or small groups, including those with personal care or mobility needs.
  • Help maintain an organised, safe, and positive classroom environment.
  • Assist with reading, games, storytelling, outings, sports, and other activities.
  • Supervise learners during breaks, group activities, and events.
  • Communicate with parents/caregivers when required and support workshops or events.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with classroom administration.
  • Step in to help with tasks when other staff are absent, ensuring smooth daily operations.

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent 
  • Passion for working with children with disabilities, learner development and wellbeing.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to different roles throughout the year.
    Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safety, wellbeing, and excellent service for learners and guests.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and follow guidance. 

Full Job Description

Classroom Support
  • Assist with planning, implementation and flow of the daily activity programme within the assigned class under the guidance of the Class Lead and Facilitator. 
  • Assist with the preparing of classrooms, lessons, activities, learning materials, resources and equipment. 
  • Support individual learners or small groups of learners in the class under the leadership and guidance of the Class Lead and Facilitator.
  • Support and assist with the effective use of classroom resources, equipment, and materials, such as audio-visual tools and computers.
  • Help maintain an organised and conducive classroom environment.
  • Assist with reading activities, storytelling, games and other activities.
  • Follow and adhere to rosters for cleaning and maintenance tasks, child supervision and resource management within the assigned class and centre premises. 
Learner Care and Development
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and care of learners, including assistance with hygiene, mobility, personal care and medical needs including transfers, toileting, nappy/clothing changes.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and other learner documentation, as and when required by the Class Lead and Facilitator. 
  • Collaborate with the Class Lead and Facilitator to assess learners’ progress and identify cognitive, physical, socio-emotional, and behavioural goals, as and when required by the Classroom Lead and Facilitator. 
  • Assist with other learning experiences, outings and events, such as but not limited to, outdoor experiences, sports, centre outings and community visits.
  • Assist and supervise learners during lunch breaks, group activities, assemblies and other out-of-classroom times to ensure safety and wellbeing.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with parents or caregivers to share important centre information such as updates, meeting information, events, workshops, support groups or any other relevant details, as and when required by the Class Lead, Facilitator or Centre Manager. 
  • Assist in organising and provide support during parent workshops, support groups, and other events, including evening sessions if necessary.
  • Contribute to and assist in weekly planning meetings, as and when required. 
  • Participate in workshops, training, and professional development sessions, applying new skills and knowledge to daily activities.
Administrative Support
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and other required administrative documentation.
  • Assist with managing classroom resources, schedules, and rosters for cleaning, child supervision, and other tasks.
  • Support the Class Lead and Facilitator in administrative tasks related to lesson planning, resource organisation, and event preparation.
General Assistance: 
  • Step in to assist with tasks in the absence of classroom staff, administrative staff, or support staff.
  • Perform administrative tasks required by the centre, including but not limited to filing, data entry, organising materials, or updating records.
  • Be available to assist with unexpected tasks or projects that contribute to the smooth operation of the centre, as requested by the Centre Manager or Centre Leadership.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • You are expected to perform additional tasks as requested by the centre leadership to meet the evolving needs of the Centre and its learners.
