Key Responsibilitues

Term-Time Responsibilities (Classroom Assistant):
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom setup, and resource management.
  • Support individual learners or small groups, including personal care where needed.
  • Help with reading, games, storytelling, activities, and outings.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised classroom environment.
  • Supervise learners during breaks, assemblies, events, and extracurricular activities.
  • Support teachers with administrative tasks and record-keeping.
Holiday Responsibilities (Hospitality Worker):

Full Job Description

Classroom Preparation and School Maintenance: 
  • Prepare the classroom for teaching and learning, ensuring all materials, resources and equipment are ready for use. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised classroom environment.
  • Perform regular cleaning and maintenance tasks in the classroom and around the school premises.
  • Assist in setting up displays, bulletin boards, or learning corners to enhance the classroom environment.
Teaching Support: 
  • Support teachers by preparing teaching resources, such as lesson plans, preparing teaching aids, mark sheets, and keeping records as guided by the teacher.
  • Distribute and collect textbooks, workbooks, question papers, worksheets, and other materials for learners efficiently. 
  • Assist with photocopying, laminating and organising materials needed for lessons, tests, exams or school events. 
  • Provide support during classroom activities, group work, or individual tasks to ensure smooth lesson delivery.
  • Assist teachers with any other administrative tasks. 
Learner Support:
  • Help manage learner behaviour, ensuring they stay focused and engaged during lessons, as directed by the teacher. 
  • Support learners with their educational, social, and emotional needs, reporting any issues when necessary and directed by the teacher. 
  • Promote positive behaviour by modelling and reinforcing appropriate conduct, assisting in managing challenging behaviours as necessary when directed by the teacher.
Supervision and Extracurricular Activities: 
  • Supervise learners during lunch breaks, group activities, assemblies and other out-of-classroom times to ensure safety and order.
  • Assist with extracurricular activities such as sports, cultural programs, after-school clubs and revision sessions.
  • Provide support during special events, such as school performances, open days, or parent-teacher meetings.
Literacy and Development:
  • Promote a love for reading by helping with reading activities, storytelling, and literacy games and other activities.
  • Support literacy and numeracy development by assisting with remedial programs or targeted interventions for learners.
General Assistance: 
  • Step in to assist with tasks in the absence of teachers, administrative staff, or support staff.
  • Perform administrative tasks required by the school, including but not limited to filing, data entry, organising materials, or updating records.
  • Be available to assist with unexpected tasks or projects that contribute to the smooth operation of the school, as requested by teachers or school leadership.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • You are expected to perform additional tasks as requested by the school leadership to meet the evolving needs of the school and its learners.
